Bogota is a borough in Bergen County NJ. As of the 2019 census it has a population of approximately 8,360. Bogota was formed in 1894 in what is known as the “boroughitis” phenomenon which swept Bergen County and when 26 boroughs were formed in that year alone. The name Bogota is derived from the Bogert family which were the first European settlers to occupy the area. Bogota borders the Bergen County municipalities of Hackensack, Ridgefield Park and Teaneck
